MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Spring Arbor took the lead in the 19th minute. Leutrim Shefkiu started the attack after creating a Taylor turnover outside the 18-yard box. Seconds later, Zoltan Suranyi blasted a shot that forced the Trojan goalkeeper to make a diving save, and Russell was in the right place at the right time to finish the loose rebound.
  • Taylor was granted a penalty kick in the 36th minute and converted on the opportunity to send the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
  • The Cougars regained the advantage in the early moments of the second half. Following a save, Christopher Banfi played a long ball over the top of the Taylor backline. A misplay by  the Trojans created a breakaway opportunity for Russell, but he was brought down from behind by a TU defender. The foul resulted in a red card and a free kick just outside the 18. Russell slipped his shot past the wall of defenders and under the goalkeeper.
  • Just over two minutes later, Russell completed the hat trick, the third of his career, to put SAU on top 3-1.
  • Spring Arbor attempted a season-high 22 shots on the night.
  • Banfi, the reigning Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Week, finished with six saves.
