INDIANAPOLIS – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team had its season come to an end Tuesday night after falling to No. 3 Marian University 70-38 in the quarterfinal round of the Crossroads League Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Spring Arbor held its own against one of the best teams in the country through the first two quarters. The Cougars limited Marian to just 38 percent (12-for-31) shooting overall and 2-for-11 from 3-point range in the first half.
- A bucket from Marie Pierson at the 4:31 mark of the second quarter put SAU in front 18-16, but the top-seeded Knights ended the period on a 15-4 run to grab a 31-22 lead at the half.
- After being held in check for the first two quarters, Marian broke the game open in the third quarter. The Knights, who rank among the NAIA leaders in field goal percent defense and scoring defense, stifled the Cougar offense out of the intermission and outscored SAU 27-4 in the period.
FOR THE COUGARS
- Gracie Cabana tallied 11 points and Anne Marie Wright finished with nine. Grace Shoobridge registered six points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
- Pierson posted a season-high seven points going 3-for-4 from the field.
- Spring Arbor shot 34 percent (16-for-47) from the field.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Kinnidy Garrard and Abby Downard led the way for Marian with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Imani Guy finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
- The Knights shot 40 percent (26-for-64) on the night and were held to a season-worst 3-for-19 from the 3-point line.
