Cougars’ win streak snapped

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team suffered a 73-55 loss against Concordia University on Monday. The Cougars came into the game with a five-game win streak, which included a 34-point win against the Cardinals just five days prior.

Brandon Durnell led the Cougars in scoring with 15 points.

With the loss, Spring Arbor has moved to an even 6-6 record on the season.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Cardinals got off to a hot start, but the Cougars gained their first lead about nine minutes into the contest, 15-13.
  • After a lot of back and forth basketball, Concordia pulled ahead and led 38-29 at halftime, fueled by 11 points from Thomas Hronis and 10 points from Colton Ritsema.
  • Durnell had 10 points at the half and Nate Flannery finished with nine first-half points.
  • Towards the start of the second half, the Cougars trailed by 11, but cut the Concordia lead to 46-43 with about 11 minutes remaining.
  • After some turnovers, the Cardinals began to run away with it, as they scored 14 consecutive points to go up 60-43.
  • The visitors did not look back, as they maintained a substantial lead for the rest of the game. Hronis finished with a team-high 20 points as Ritsema scored a career-high 17 points and finished with 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.
  • Flannery finished with 14 points and 6 assists. Denver Cade was three points shy of a double-double, finishing with seven points and 10 assists.
