AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team took a tough 6-2 loss against the Point Park University Pioneers on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the team is 0-2 to start the season.

Sean Cassel was dialed in for the Cougars, as he finished the game with 4.1 innings pitched, two hits, one earned run and five strikeouts.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Sean Cassel took the hill for Spring Arbor to start the game and shut down the Pioneers early on.
- The Cougars struck first, as freshman Jackson Kitchen drove in Brant Mast with an RBI ground out in the third to make it 1-0. Later in the inning, Vincent Herschberger drove in Ben Redfield with an RBI single to give the Cougars a 2-0 advantage.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, Point Park's Mychel Gordon stunned the Cougars with a grand slam over the left field wall to give the Pioneers a 4-2 lead.
- The Pioneers would go on to score the final two runs in the ballgame.
- Spring Arbor threatened in the top of the seventh. A pinch-hit single by Zach Kraabel kept the team's hopes alive. One batter later, Brant Mast singled to put runners on first and second with one out. However, Point Park pitcher Nicholas Beardsley finished what he started as he shut the door and earned the complete game victory.
- Mast was a bright spot in the SAU lineup, as he finished 3-for-4 and reached base safely four times.
