MARION, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at No. 11 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday. The Cougars played one of the top teams in the country close, but fell by a score of 6-2 in both contests.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor trailed just 1-0 through four innings, and tied the score with a run in the top of the fifth inning.
- Indiana Wesleyan retook the lead with two runs in the home half of the fifth. However, the Cougars answered back in the sixth. After a leadoff double by Jessie Panchaud, Emmalee Hamp brought her home with a double of her own to make it a 3-2 game.
- The Wildcats showed why they have one of the top offenses in the country, putting three more runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth to help hold off the SAU charge.
- Hannah Laurin held the high-powered Wildcat offense in check for most of the game. The sophomore pitcher allowed just one unearned run through four innings. She finished with 4.1 innings pitched and three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor struck first in game two. It was Hamp again who delivered another RBI double to bring home Panchaud, giving SAU an early 1-0 advantage.
- Hamp, who got the start in the circle, kept the Wildcats in check through the first two innings, but IWU managed to push two runs across in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth.
- The Cougars were held to three hits in the game. Marisa Morgan had an RBI single and Elena Jones collected a hit and scored.
- Hamp pitched 3.2 innings giving up five runs and struck out five batters. Jones worked the final 2.1 innings surrendering one run and fanning two.
