Marco Bernardini earned his first career coaching victory with Spring Arbor University's 2-1 season-opening win over Hope College on Saturday night.
The No. 19 ranked Cougars fell behind early, but rallied back behind two second half goals from
Lirim Shefkiu.

- Hope scored first on a goal by Griffin Bruso in the 13th minute.
- Spring Arbor continued to trail into the second half before Trevor Kacou drew a foul inside the box in the 71st minute. Shefkiu calmly buried the ensuing penalty kick to even the score.
- Four minutes later, a cross into the box by Kacou found Shefkiu, who slipped a shot past the Hope goalkeeper to give the Cougars the lead.
- SAU goalkeeper Christopher Banfi made four saves on the night.
