UPLAND, Ind. – The men's distance medley relay team captured the title on Friday to highlight the Spring Arbor University track & field teams' results at the 2022 Crossroads League Indoor Championships.
The SAU men's and women's teams each finished 10th in the team standings while Marian University claimed, both, the men's and women's team championships.
The men's DMR team, comprised of
Tommee Smith,
Zach Morse,
Timothy Nelson and
Dean Reynolds, not only crossed the finish line first, but turned in the fastest-performance in meet history and the second-fastest performance in Spring Arbor history with a 10:10.96. The time currently ranks fifth in the NAIA this season.
In addition to the performance by the DMR team, the men's squad saw two athletes qualify for the NAIA national championships with their times in the 3000 meters as
Nathan Stout finished seventh with an 8:38.25 and
Gary Richardson followed in 10th with an 8:45.41. Stout also hit the NAIA qualifying standard in the 5000 meters, crossing the finish line in 15:03.54.
