Sarah Matlock, the Spring Arbor University softball team split with Taylor University, falling in game one 16-5 before claiming a 10-3 win in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Taylor got the bats going early, plating six runs in the first inning and the Trojans never looked back.
- Sturgeon was 2-for-3 with two RBI's while Gignac also collected two hits and scored once.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor led 1-0 after two innings, but took control of the game with a four-run third inning – highlighted by a three-run home run by Emmalee Hamp.
- Taylor closed the gap to two, 5-3, in the fifth, but the Cougars answered with five runs in the home half of the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
- Sturgeon continued to swing a hot bat picking up three more hits while Hamp finished with two hits and four RBI's.
- Hamp also picked up the win in the circle. The sophomore pitcher allowed three runs on eight hits over seven innings of work while striking out five batters.
UP NEXT
The Crossroads League Tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, May 4. All games on Wednesday will be played at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana.
Spring Arbor will be the No. 8 seed in the tournament and will face off against the conference regular season champions Indiana Wesleyan University in the first game on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
