Cougars Drop Tight Contest at Crossroads League Foe Taylor

Second Half Surge Proves too Much for the Visiting Cougars

Box Score Upland, IN - The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team lost a tightly contested match this past Saturday, as they fell 67-76 to the host Trojans of Taylor University.

The Cougars paired efficient scoring with a timely run to take a 2-point lead into the break, but were unable to maintain that energy as Taylor battled back to defend their home court.

Game Stats:
- Gabe Newhof scored 17 of his team high 23 in the first half, and the Cougars saw 3 more starters score in double figures.
- Spring Arbor trimmed Taylor's lead to just 2 points at the 5:01 mark of the second half, but an ensuing 10-2 run by the Trojans proved to be the difference down the stretch
- Freshman Ty Rykse offered 6 points off the bench, his season high.
- Gabe Newhof secured his 9th double-double of the season, the most among Crossroads League freshmen.
- Taylor's Jason Hubbard, who leads the Crossroads League in scoring, led the way for the Trojans with 24.
