FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball defeated No. 24 Indiana Tech 83-69 at the Crossroads League/WHAC Challenge on Saturday.

Gabe Newhof matched his career-high with 34 points and hauled in 13 rebounds to lead the way for the Cougars.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Newhof scored 12 of the team's first 16 points, and helped Spring Arbor jump out to an early double-digit lead.
- Spring Arbor took a 37-33 lead into halftime and stayed in front until the 10:47 mark of the second period when a quick 7-0 scoring spurt by the Warriors gave Indiana Tech its first lead of the game, 53-51.
- With less than five minutes to play, Kevyn Robertson and Tyler DeSimpelare hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give SAU a 70-63 advantage.
- Indiana Tech kept itself within striking distance, but a clutch triple from Trey Cottingham in the final minute put the game out of reach.
- Newhof went 16-of-19 from the field on his way to 34 points while also grabbing 13 rebounds. Travis Grayson followed with 17 points and nine boards. Robertson and Cottingham finished with 11 points apiece.
- Spring Arbor shot 58 percent overall while holding the 24th ranked Warriors to 40 percent shooting. The Cougars also held a 38-27 advantage in rebounds.
