Cougars fight back to draw with No. 15 IWU on Senior Night

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's soccer team overcame a two-goal deficit against No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan University to finish in a 2-2 draw on Saturday night in the final game of the regular season.
 
With the result, Spring Arbor secured the No. 3-seed in the upcoming Crossroads League Tournament and will host No. 6-seed Huntington University in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, Nov. 4.
 
Prior to the match, head coach Marco Bernardini and the Cougars celebrated seniors Braden Kosmet and Nathan Madery.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Indiana Wesleyan scored in the last five minutes of the first half and the first five minutes of the second half to build a 2-0 advantage.
  • Spring Arbor did not wait long to respond as Abdulrahman Al-Rashed converted a penalty kick in the 53rd minute to get within one, and Matheus Cunha scored from 40 yards out to tie the game in the 57th minute.
  • The Cougars looked to have pulled ahead in the 75th minute but a goal by Jack Voight was disallowed due to an offside call.
  • Spring Arbor outshot the No. 15 ranked Wildcats 19-15 and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
  • SAU goalkeeper Matt LeBlanc finished the night with six saves.
