Cougars remain hot, earn two wins versus Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Cougars traveled to Georgia for a three-game trip and continued their winning ways while doing so.

They faced Brewton-Parker College for a two-game series, taking both in high scoring affairs. In the first game Friday night, senior Brant Mullins entered the game in the fifth inning with a tall task at hand.

Holding an 8-4 advantage, Mullins stepped to the mound with the bases loaded and no outs. He remained cool, calm and collected as he proceeded to strike out the first batter he faced, and then forced a ground out into a double play to end the inning and get out of the jam. The Cougars went on to win 11-5.

In their second matchup which happened Saturday evening, the Cougar offense erupted for 15 runs.

The Cougars led 1-0 in the bottom of the 2nd inning when the Barons managed to get runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Senior pitcher Evan Lorey quickly stifled any hopes the Barons had to snatch the lead away, as he struck out three straight to end the inning.

From there the Cougars ripped off 14 unanswered runs, leading 14-0 after five innings, and eventually won the game 15-2.
