UPLAND, IN. – The Cougars played their first games back from their Florida trip, as they opened up conference play with Taylor University.
The Cougars dropped game one before battling back to win game two and split the opening series versus the Trojans.
In game one, the Cougars conceded four runs in the first inning, leading to a difficult hole to dig themselves out of.
The Cougars showed some life after a homerun from
Sarah Tourney in the sixth inning cut the Trojan lead to two, but the Cougars failed to muster up any more runs, losing 3-5.
In game two,
Emmalee Hamp was the star. Hamp hit a two-run homerun in the top of the first inning and then followed up with an RBI single to extend the Cougar lead.
She also pitched a dominant, complete game effort, striking out 10 batters and only allowing two runs in the game. She led the Cougars to victory, 3-2.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

Sarah Tourney shined for the Cougars, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, thanks to her 2-run homerun in the 6th inning.

Elena Jones pitched a complete game for Spring Arbor, and despite the loss, her record still stands at 4-1, tied for the fifth most wins in the conference.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

Emmalee Hamp was responsible for all three Cougar runs, going 2-for-3 with a homerun and a single.
- Hamp also led the Cougars on the mound, pitching a complete game and earning the win. She now stands at 2-1 on the season.
