Cougars earn split versus Lancers in final regular season home stand

Spring Arbor, MI. – The Cougars welcomed the Grace Lancers to Hank Burbridge field for their final home stand of the regular season, and played to a split in two hard fought battles.

Game one saw the Cougars erase an early deficit, as they turned a 0-3 hole in the third inning into a 7-3 advantage by the seventh inning of action. The Lancers gave the Cougars a late scare, however, as they tacked on three runs in the eighth inning. The Cougars' pitching remained true down the stretch thankfully, and they won 7-6.

In game two, the Cougars' offense stalled. Both teams struggled mightily early on, as it was knotted at 0-0 heading into the fifth inning. It was the Lancers, however, who caught fire at the plate, as they scored five unanswered runs over the final two innings to take the win in game two. The Cougars fell by a final score of 0-5.
