Cunha scores twice to lead Men's Soccer past Rochester

WASHINGTON, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's soccer team continued its strong start to the 2023 campaign with a 4-1 road win over Rochester University on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Matheus Cunha recorded two goals to help lead the Cougars back from an early deficit and remain unbeaten on the season.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Rochester struck first, scoring in the ninth minute.
  • It did not take long for Spring Arbor to answer. In the 16th minute, Jack Voight found Victor Toune for the game-tying goal.
  • Later in the first half, Spring Arbor took the lead for good with two goals in a span of two minutes. Josh Madery netted the first goal in the 29th minute and Cunha found the back of the net in the 31st minute with Abdulrahman Al-Rashed assisting on both tallies.
  • Cunha struck again, converting on a penalty shot, in the opening minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach.
  • Spring Arbor collected nine shots on the afternoon and Rochester finished with 11, but only put two on target.
 
 
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor welcomes Lawrence Tech (3-1-0) to the Cougar Soccer Complex on Saturday, Sept. 9. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
