WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Behind a 40-point effort from
Alana Nelson, the Spring Arbor University women's basketball team defeated Midway University 85-80 on Saturday at the Val Weinstein Classic, hosted by Grace College.
The win keeps the Cougars perfect on the season, moving their record to 5-0.

GAME NOTES
- An old-fashioned three-point play got Midway within two, 80-78, with two minutes left in the game, but a layup from Alayna Kulesza and a pair of free throws from Alana Nelson down the stretch sealed the win for Spring Arbor.
- Nelson recorded her fourth straight double-double with 40 points and 18 rebounds. Sydney Aunins added 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Three Cougars finished with eight points, including Megan Zeitz, who was also credited with nine assists.
- Spring Arbor shot 48 percent from the floor and hit 15-of-17 free throw attempts. Midway connected on 44 percent of its field goal attempts.
