SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team defeated Huntington University 71-57 in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening at the McDonald Athletic Center.
The Cougars trailed 34-28 at halftime but outscored the Foresters 30-12 in the third quarter to help clinch their spot in the tournament semifinals.
Alize Tripp fueled the rally with 16 third quarter points going 7-for-9 from the field in the period.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor got off to a slow start, shooting 2-for-15 from the field in the first quarter allowing Huntington to hold a 16-9 lead after the first 10 minutes of action.
- Alex Long and Abby Fleetwood got the Cougars going in the second quarter, combining for 14 points and getting SAU to within six, 34-28, heading into halftime.
- Spring Arbor came charging out of the gates after the intermission, outscoring the Foresters 30-12 in the third quarter. Alize Tripp was red-hot scoring 16 points in the period on 7-of-9 shooting, including two 3-pointers.
- Alana Nelson took over in the fourth quarter scoring nine points to help the Cougars close out Huntington.
- Tripp finished with a game-high 21 points while Nelson added 19 and seven rebounds. Long had 14 points and nine boards and Fleetwood registered 11 points and six rebounds.

The No. 3-seeded Cougars travel to Marion, Indiana to take on the tournament's No. 2 seed Indiana Wesleyan University (26-3) on Friday, Mar. 1 at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the Crossroads League Tournament Championship game, which is scheduled for Monday, Mar. 4.
