Men's Soccer scores 11 goals in season-opening win

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's soccer team started the 2024 campaign with a bang on Saturday night at the Cougar Soccer Complex. The Cougars scored 11 goals in a shutout victory over Rochester Christian University.
 
The 11 goals were the most scored in a SAU squad in at least the last 20 seasons.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
  • Rood Schnaider got the scoring started early, finding the back of the net just 20 seconds into the match.
  • Spring Arbor went on to tally six more in the opening half, including a stretch of five goals in 10 minutes.
  • The second half started in similar fashion with Schnaider scoring less than two minutes into the period. The Cougars added three more en route to the 11-0 victory.
  • Schnaider and Kaelan Debbage registered two goals and two assists each. Jack Reynolds also had two assists to go along with a goal.
  • Senior Eyad Ali and sophomore Bryson Schinzing recorded the first goals of their careers.
  • Goalkeepers Victor Jaunay and Noah Stambaugh combined for the shutout.
 
 
UP NEXT
Spring Arbor travels to Columbia, Kentucky to take on a pair of ranked foes. The Cougars will face No. 22 Bethel (Tenn.) on Thursday, Aug. 22 and No. 18 Lindsey Wilson on Saturday, Aug. 24.
