MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - In a hard-fought Crossroads League contest, the Spring Arbor University men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Mount Vernon Nazarene University on the road Saturday night.
The Cougars move to 6-4-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the conference.
The match began with an early goal by
Jack Voight, who netted the ball at the 5:35 mark with an assist from
Sahel Yessen, giving Spring Arbor a 1-0 lead at halftime. However, the host team responded late in the second half when Daniel Martinez scored in the 89th minute to level the score.
Jack Cristini made five crucial saves throughout the game.
Spring Arbor returns home to host Goshen College on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Cougar Soccer Complex starting at 7 p.m.
