SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The No. 8 ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene University in a Crossroads League showdown Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex. The home team maintained control throughout the match, leading at halftime with a score of 1-0 and concluding with a commanding two-goal margin.
Jocelyn Hendricks and
Kayla Baar scored for Spring Arbor. Hendricks delivered the first blow at the 22:11 mark of the first period, with
Fara Serra providing the assist, which turned out to be the game-winning goal. Baar boosted the lead in the 52nd minute of action, assisted by
Kaylee Beekel, to ensure the victory.
Reagan Kohler stood firm between the posts, making two saves and recording her third consecutive shutout.
Spring Arbor dominated the finished the match outshooting their opponents 14-3.
The win not only marks the third consecutive victory for SAU, but also boosts their season record to 7-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the league. The Cougars travel to Goshen College on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
