UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University track and field teams had a strong showing in their return to action Friday at the SVSU Classic, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
Dean Reynolds became the first Cougar to punch a ticket to the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships after hitting the A standard in the 800 meters. The senior standout won the event with a time new career-best time of 1:52.49 – the third-best performance in SAU history.
Along with Reynolds' national qualifying time, Spring Arbor saw three program records set. Fresh off her record-breaking performance at the season-opener,
Hope Taylor clocked in at 7.83 in the 60 meter dash to eclipse her previous best time by .05 seconds.
Alyssa Budd also broke her own school record in the long jump with a mark of 5.43 meters (17' 9.75") while freshman
Tanana Emmendorfer broke a 23-year old record in the 400 meters with her time of 57.97.
