GOSHEN, IN. – The red-hot Spring Arbor men's basketball team traveled south to Goshen, Indiana on Wednesday night to take on the Goshen Maple Leafs in a Crossroads League showdown.
The first half was dominated by Spring Arbor, as they jumped out to a 8-0 lead via two
Shane Rykse 3-pointers, and a
Gabe Newhof bucket, and never looked back. After a Goshen bucket cut Spring Arbor's lead to 12-6 at the 15:30 mark, the Cougars absolutely dominated the rest of the stanza, going on a 32-5 run to take a whopping 44-11 lead into the break. Ryske and
Gabe Newhof put on a show in the first half, each outscoring Goshen by themselves, as Ryske had 16 points, including 4 three pointers, while Newhof added 14 points.
Goshen showed a little more fight in the second half, scoring 7 straight to begin the half, and putting up 34 points, but the Cougar onslaught was just too much, as Spring Arbor coasted to the dominant 80-45 victory. The 35 point margin marked the largest margin of victory for the Cougars this season, as well as their 6
th time eclipsing the 80 point mark.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Leading the scoring for the Cougars was Freshman Shane Ryske, who had a breakout performance, scoring a career-high 23 points on 7 of 14 shooting, including 5 of 10 from behind the arc.
- Joining Ryske in double figures were Gabe Newhof and Kevyn Robertson. Newhof had 22 points on a very efficient 10 of 13 shooting, along with 6 rebounds, an assist, and a block. Robertson added 10 points, as well as 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
- Travis Grayson and Dante Favor also played significant roles in the victory, as Grayson had 7 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds and a steal, while Favor also had 7 points, along with 10 rebounds, 2 assists and a block.
- The leading scorer for Goshen was Judah Simfukwe, who had 11 points on 2 of 7 shooting, also going 6 for 6 from the free throw line.
