GOSHEN, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team fell on the road at Goshen College 72-65 on Wednesday night.
Goshen shot 50 percent from the field, including hitting 54 percent of its 3-point attempts, while Spring Arbor was held to 40 percent and 1-for-14 from behind the arc.
Alana Nelson posted another double-double – her seventh of the season – with 24 points and 14 rebounds.

GAME NOTES
- Spring Arbor led by seven early, 16-9, but Goshen closed the first quarter on an 11-2 run to pull ahead.
- The home team carried that momentum into the second period, scoring eight of the first 10 points to stretch their lead to 28-20 at the 5:02 mark. Back-to-back buckets from Ellen Meyer ignited a scoring spurt by SAU and the Cougars were able to trim the deficit to three at the half, 34-31.
- In the third quarter, the Maple Leafs used another big run to take a 49-41 advantage and would never relinquish the lead.
- Alana Nelson scored 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting while going 7-for-8 from the charity stripe. The Springport, Michigan native also hauled in 14 rebounds to register her seventh double-double of the year.
- Two other Cougars scored in double figures. Emma Smieska finished with 15 points while Sydney Aunins added 12.
