Historic 300 game powers SAU women, men also win Falcon Classic

MONROE, Mich. – Spring Arbor University enjoyed a banner day at the AHBA Falcon Classic, with both the men's and women's bowling teams capturing team championships in a dominant showing on Saturday. The Cougar men picked up their second win of the season after topping a 13-team field while the SAU women finished 1st out of 12 teams, securing their third tournament title.

The women's team delivered the highlight of the event behind Kayla Tafanelli, who turned in a historic performance. Tafanelli finished first individually in a field of more than 100 bowlers, totaling 782 pins over three games and winning the event by more than 100 pins. Her outing included a perfect 300 game—the first 300 in SAU women's bowling history, marking a milestone moment for the program.

Spring Arbor packed the top of the leaderboard, placing four bowlers inside the top 10. Joining Tafanelli was Abigail Gutowski in second place with 681 pins, Reagan Baker in seventh with 635 and Abigail Hamilton in eighth with 632.

On the men's side, senior Cody Hall paced Spring Arbor with a second place finish, knocking down 732 pins behind games of 239, 225, and 268. Carson Kohler joined him in the top 10, placing seventh overall with 693 pins, helping the Cougars pull away from the rest of the field to clinch the title.

Spring Arbor will be at Crest Lanes in Marion, Indiana on Friday, Dec. 5 for CL Tournament #1 and EZ Lanes in Bluffton, Indiana on Saturday, Dec. 6 for CL Tournament #2.
