INDIANAPOLIS – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Saturday, falling 71–70 on the road at Marian University in a down-to-the-wire Crossroads League battle.
The Cougars trailed for nearly the entire afternoon and faced a 14-point deficit with 5:18 remaining. But SAU refused to fold. A spirited 11–2 run over the next two and a half minutes cut the margin to 66–61, and the Cougars continued to claw their way back.
With the clock winding down,
Travis Grayson buried a clutch 3-pointer with seven seconds left to make it a one-point game. After a quick foul, Marian went to the charity stripe, but missed both free throws, giving Spring Arbor one final chance. Grayson pushed the ball up the floor, but his runner at the buzzer bounced off the rim as the Cougars' comeback bid fell just short.
Dante Favor delivered a big performance with 24 points and 14 rebounds, securing his third double-double of the season.
Ty Rykse added 15 points off the bench, Grayson finished with 11, and
David Cundiff chipped in eight points along with a team-high nine assists.
Spring Arbor (4–3) returns home Tuesday, Nov. 25 to host Great Lakes Christian College (7-5) at 3 p.m.
