SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team earned its second straight win to open the season, defeating Indiana University South Bend 85–73 on the road Wednesday night.

GAME SUMMARY
- Spring Arbor led 18–12 after the first quarter, and pushed the margin to as many as 15 in the second quarter.
- Indiana South Bend closed the gap to four, however, with a 15-4 run over a four-minute span. The Cougars answered just before halftime with back-to-back buckets by Emma Smieska and Rielyn Goodwin to take a 41-33 advantage into the intermission.
- Spring Arbor threatened to pull away throughout the third and fourth quarters, but every time the Cougars stretched the lead to double-digits, IU South Bend battled its way back.
- The Titans trailed by four with three minutes remaining in the game, but SAU would convert at the free throw line down the stretch to seal the win.
- Megan Zeitz had 20 points to lead the Cougars and Goodwin followed with 13 while also dishing out seven assists. Smieska added 11 points and Alayna Kulesza chipped in 10.
