Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Newhof's third 30-point performance highlights dominant win over Goshen

SPRING ARBOR, MI – Winter weather delayed the festivities by a day, but Thursday evening, the Spring Arbor men's basketball team took on Goshen in Crossroads League action.

The first half began with little separation between the two squads, as with just under 12 minutes to go, the teams were knotted up at 16-16. However, from there, the Cougars got hot, going on a 18-0 run in the next 7 minutes to surge ahead, and take control of the contest. Goshen would finally knock one down from behind the arc to break their scoreless streak of over 7 minutes, but Spring Arbor would take a commanding 43-25 lead into the locker room. The Cougar scoring was quite balanced throughout the half, with Gabe Newhof leading the charge with 10 points, Kevyn Robertson and Dante Favor both pouring in 8 points apiece, and Travis Grayson adding 7 points.

The second half played out similar to out the first finished, as the Cougars led by at least 16 points throughout the whole period, coasting to a dominant 88-68 victory. Gabe Newhof turned a solid performance into an outstanding one in the half, scoring 20 of his 30 points in the stanza, which would have led all scorers for the entire game.
