Men’s Bowling ranked No. 11 in latest RPI ratings

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University was ranked No. 11 in the fourth NAIA Men's Bowling RPI rating of the 2024-25 season, released by the national office on Friday.

The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a statistical system used to rank sports teams based on their wins, losses, and strength of schedule. It considers three main factors: a team's winning percentage, the winning percentage of their opponents, and the winning percentage of their opponents' opponents. This method provides a comprehensive view of team performance by accounting for the difficulty of their schedule.

Head coach Gerry Lobdell and his squad have a rankings score of .595. Lawrence Tech is ranked first in the nation at .664 followed by SCAD at .658 and Milligan University at .653.

Spring Arbor has competed in 11 tournaments this year with three event wins and four runner-up finishes. The Cougars have compiled an 89-29 record for a .754 winning percentage.

The team will compete in the USBC Intercollegiate Singles and Team Sectionals on Mar. 8-9 and hope to receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship, which is scheduled for Mar. 20-22 in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
