Women’s Bowling ranks 8th in RPI ratings

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University was ranked No. 8 in the fourth NAIA Women's Bowling RPI rating of the 2024-25 season, released by the national office on Friday.

The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a statistical system used to rank sports teams based on their wins, losses, and strength of schedule. It considers three main factors: a team's winning percentage, the winning percentage of their opponents, and the winning percentage of their opponents' opponents. This method provides a comprehensive view of team performance by accounting for the difficulty of their schedule.

Spring Arbor has a ranking score of .610. The team ranked first, Mount Mercy University, earned a .675 while SCAD-Savannah followed with a .665 and the University of Pikeville boasts a .659.

The Cougars have competed in 11 tournaments this year with six event wins and one runner-up finish. The team has compiled an impressive 101 head-to-head wins against just 19 losses for a .841 winning percentage.

Spring Arbor will compete in the USBC Intercollegiate Singles and Team Sectionals on Mar. 8-9 followed by the NAIA National Championship on Mar. 20-22 in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
