SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Spring Arbor University swept a doubleheader against Bethel University on Tuesday at the Cougar Softball Field. The Cougars held on for a 5-4 win in game one before posting a 9-1 victory in game two.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Bethel scored two runs in the first inning, but Spring Arbor responded with two in the second.
- The Cougars took the lead with three runs in the third inning following RBI hits by Brooke Meeker, Taylor Clark and Matajia Cerroni.
- After surrendering the two first inning runs, SAU pitcher Emilee Underwood settled in and tossed four straight shutout innings. However, the Pilots were able to push two more runs across in the sixth to get within one, 5-4.
- Bethel threatened again in the seventh, putting runners on second and third with only one out, but Underwood was able to induce a pair of harmless ground balls to secure the win.
- Clark went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.
- Underwood went the distance on her way to earning her fourth victory of the season. She allowed four runs on nine hits while striking out five.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Spring Arbor and Bethel were tied 1-1 after three innings, but the Cougars broke things open after Matajia Cerroni blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Cougars continued to play add-on with a single run in the fifth inning before plating four in the sixth – capped by a three-run double by Clark.
- Cerroni was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored while Elaina Walker and Kennadi Killeen picked up two hits apiece.
- Ava Poulson improved to 4-2 in the circle this season. The freshman pitcher allowed only one run while scattering six hits. Tammy Craven added a scoreless inning of relief.
