SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University men's golf team finished in first place at the Pilot Invitational held on Saturday at Blackthorn Golf Club.
Spring Arbor and Bethel were tied at the top standings after two-rounds were completed, but the Cougars prevailed in the playoff to bring home their fifth tournament trophy of the season.
The tiebreaker was decided in a playoff where all five players in each team's lineup played the same hole and the top-four scores from each side counting for the hole.
Luke Fisher and
Rafael Benadiba led the way for SAU finishing tied for third overall with matching scores 145.
Blaze Tanner and
Zach Koch landed in the top-10 as well. Tanner finished in seventh place with a 149 and Koch was right behind with a 150 in ninth place.
As a team, SAU recorded back-to-back rounds of 296 for a total team score of 592.
