Gonzalez, Tessmer receive All-League honors

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University baseball team had two student-athletes earn Crossroads League all-league honors for the 2025 season, as the conference announced its postseason awards Wednesday.

Ryan Gonzalez and Joey Tessmer were selected to the All-Crossroads League Second Team while Gonzalez also secured his second straight Gold Glove Team honor.

It was a stellar senior season for Gonzalez, who started all 51 games and led the team in several offensive categories, including his .374 batting average – the fourth-best in the Crossroads League. The Howell, New Jersey native also paced the Cougars in hits (58), on-base percentage (.465) and OPS (.910). Among his career-high 58 hits, he had six doubles, a triple and a home run while scoring 34 times and driving in 25. He had 13 multi-hit games and reached base in 17 straight contests to end the season.

Gonzalez was just as good in the field on his way to securing his second consecutive Gold Glove. The standout first baseman boasted a .994 fielding percentage, making just two errors in 340 chances.

After missing most of his freshman season due to injury, Tessmer bounced back with an outstanding sophomore campaign. The centerfielder from Dexter, Michigan ranked second on the team in batting average (.308), slugging percentage (.519), hits (57) and RBIs (32). He collected a team-best 21 extra-base hits, including 11 doubles and eight home runs – both team-highs. Tessmer put together a 12-game hitting streak from Feb. 6 – Mar. 10 and registered 14 multi-hit games, which was tied for the most on the squad.
