SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – In front of a packed Cougar Soccer Complex, the Spring Arbor men's soccer team dug deep for a gritty 1-0 win over Albion College on Saturday night. The atmosphere was electric from kickoff, and the Cougars rewarded the home crowd with a late winner by
David Magalhaes.
With the win, the No. 14 ranked Cougars move to 2-0-0 on the season.

MATCH SUMMARY
- Spring Arbor's resolve was tested after receiving a red card in the 57th minute. Rather than retreat, SAU tightened the lines and kept pushing.
- The breakthrough came in the 74th minute when Alex Murphy was dragged down in the box giving SAU a penalty kick. David Magalhaes stepped to the spot and calmly converted the penalty, giving the Cougars the only goal they would need.
- From there, the back line and goalkeeper Jack Cristini slammed the door. Cristini logged one save in the second clean sheet to start the season.
- Spring Arbor outshot Albion 15-6 on the evening and allowed the Britons just a single shot on frame. The Cougars also finished with an 11-6 advantage in corner kicks.
