No. 13 SAU earns first league win behind 2-1 victory over Saint Francis

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 13 ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team secured its first Crossroads League victory of the season on Saturday, defeating the University of Saint Francis 2-1 at the Cougar Soccer Complex.
 
The win extends SAU's unbeaten streak to six – owning a 4-0-2 record in that span – and improves the team to 5-1-4 overall and 1-0-1 in the league.

  • The Cougars controlled the tempo from the opening whistle, outshooting the visitors 20-5 on the day.
  • SAU broke through in the 33rd minute when Karly Miller netted her fifth goal of the season, finishing off a feed from Gracie Beld. The goal was her fifth of the season – tying her for the team-lead with Claire VanZanten.
  • Just after halftime, the Cougars doubled the lead as Isa Martinez calmly converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute.
  • Saint Francis cut into the deficit late, converting a penalty of its own in the 87th minute, but the Cougar back line and goalkeeper Reagan Kohler, who made three saves on the afternoon, held firm to see out the win.
