SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team closed strong to earn a 91-79 home victory over the University of Saint Francis on Saturday inside the McDonald Athletic Center.
The win improves SAU to 10-9 overall and 3-6 in Crossroads League play.
The game remained tight late, with SAU holding a slim 79-74 lead at the 3:10 mark, before the Cougars put the contest away with a decisive 12-0 run over the next two minutes. Back-to-back 3-pointers from
Brandon Trilli and
David Cundiff ignited the surge as Spring Arbor created separation and never looked back.
Travis Grayson led the Cougars with 20 points, marking his third 20-point performance in the last four games, while also handing out eight assists.
Dante Favor posted 15 points and nine rebounds, Cundiff finished with 14 points and six assists, and Trilli added 13 points and six boards.
Saint Francis carried a 43-36 advantage into halftime, but Spring Arbor flipped the script after the break by shooting 67 percent from the field in the second half. The Cougars were especially efficient from beyond the arc, knocking down 8-of-11 3-pointers (73 percent) over the final 20 minutes while holding the visitors to 37 percent shooting.
Spring Arbor returns to action next Saturday, Jan. 24, with a road trip to Huntington University (14-5, 5-4 CL).
