Grayson’s 26 Powers Cougars to Win Over Marian

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team used a strong second-half surge to pull away from Marian University, earning a 78-62 home victory on Wednesday night inside the McDonald Athletic Center.

The win improved the Cougars to 11-10 overall and 4-7 in Crossroads League play.

Spring Arbor trailed by one at halftime, 36-35, but back-to-back buckets by Travis Grayson to open the second half gave SAU the lead, and the Cougars would not trail again. The margin remained tight into the latter stages, as it was a five-point game with 7:42 remaining, before SAU put the game out of reach with a decisive 13-2 run.

Grayson led the way with a game-high 26 points, marking his fourth 20-point performance in the last six games. Dante Favor recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Brandon Trilli added 13 points and eight boards. Shane Rykse rounded out the balanced effort with 12 points.

Spring Arbor returns to action at home on Saturday, Jan. 31 when it hosts Mount Vernon Nazarene University at 3 p.m.
