ST. JOSEPH, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team picked up its first win of the spring season with a 4-3 victory over Saint Mary's College on Wednesday at South Shore Racquet Club.
The Cougars set the tone early by claiming the doubles point, winning matches at No. 1 and No. 2.
Lilah Dean and
Moorea McNalley earned a 6-4 win at the top spot while
Victoria Herrington and
Dayra Novella followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Spring Arbor carried that momentum into singles play, winning four of six matches. McNalley was dominant at No. 1, rolling to a straight-sets 6-0, 6-3 win. Herrington battled back after dropping the first set at No. 2, rallying for a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 victory. Novella also secured a straight-sets win at No. 4 while
Andrea Vandermark clinched the team victory with a hard-fought win at No. 5.
