Men’s Basketball Falls to Top-Seeded Grace in Tournament Play

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team fell to No. 2 ranked Grace College 88-72 in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening.

Spring Arbor came out sharp, jumping to a 10-4 lead in the opening minutes and setting the tone early on the road. The Lancers responded quickly, however, finding their rhythm offensively and gradually pulling away. The home team closed the first half on a strong run to take a 49-34 advantage into the break.

The Lancers extended their lead to 19 early in the second half, but the Cougars refused to go away quietly. SAU erupted for a 19-4 run over a five-minute stretch, cutting the deficit to just four points, 57-53, with 13:52 remaining.

A scoring drought proved costly, though, as Spring Arbor was limited to just one field goal over the next five minutes. Grace capitalized to rebuild a double-digit cushion and maintained control down the stretch to secure the 88-72 victory.

Travis Grayson led the Cougars with 23 points. David Cundiff turned in a standout performance, pouring in a career-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, while adding seven assists. Dante Favor contributed eight points, five rebounds, and four assists.
