ALBION, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's tennis team continued its strong stretch of play, sweeping Calvin University 7-0 on Wednesday night at Albion College.
The victory marks the third straight win for the Cougars, who improve to 4-3 overall on the year.
Spring Arbor set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with wins in all three flights.
Jaume Riera Galindo and
Daniel Rodriguez Fortes earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1, while
MacKinley McNalley and
Aziz Madatov rolled to a 6-1 win at No. 2.
Caleb Kaytar and
Jakub Sevcik completed the sweep with a 6-3 decision at No. 3.
The Cougars carried that momentum into singles play, winning all six matches to secure the shutout.
Madatov picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 1, and Riera Galindo battled back after dropping the first set to earn a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory at No. 2. Rodriguez Fortes added a straight-set win (6-3, 6-3) in the third flight.
Sevcik closed out a tight second set in a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 4, while Kaytar (6-3, 3-6, 10-7) and McNalley (4-6, 6-4, 10-4) each secured three-set victories to complete the 7-0 sweep.
