SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University men's basketball team fell to No. 5 ranked Indiana Wesleyan University, 85-50, on Saturday afternoon inside the McDonald Athletic Center.
The loss drops the Cougars to 12-12 overall and 5-9 in Crossroads League play.
The game was competitive early, with Indiana Wesleyan holding a slim 23-20 advantage with seven minutes remaining in the opening half following a pair of free throws by
Ty Rykse. The Wildcats were able to create separation late in the half, however, taking a 36-24 lead into the break.
Indiana Wesleyan, one of the nation's most efficient offensive teams, continued to build on its lead in the second half, pulling away to secure the road victory.
Travis Grayson and
Brandon Trilli paced Spring Arbor with 10 points apiece while
David Cundiff added eight points and six rebounds.
Spring Arbor hits the road on Wednesday, Feb. 11, traveling to face No. 10 Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana before closing the regular-season home schedule on Saturday, Feb. 14, against Goshen College.
