SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University competitive cheer team saw five student-athletes earn Crossroads League all-league honors for the 2025-26 season, as the conference announced its postseason awards Monday.
Brooklyn Kelly was selected to the First Team All-Crossroads League Tumbler, while Second Team All-Crossroads League honors went to
Xandria Stephenson – Base,
Mia Asraf – Flyer and
Lyla Kling – Tumbler.
Whitney Ruger also earned Honorable Mention All-Crossroads League Base. Coach
Hannah Philson was named Crossroads League Coach of the Year.
Kelly, a freshman from Lake Ottawa, Michigan competed in seven routines this season, showcasing her outstanding tumbling. She is regarded as one of the best tumblers in the league by coaches and at league finals was able to compete two flawless running fulls.
Stephenson, a senior from Spring Arbor, Michigan, competed in all nine routines this season, back spotting difficult stunts and standing strong underneath the pyramids with a smile always on her face. She has been a cornerstone of this team for four seasons and is highly deserving of this honor.
Asraf, a freshman from Davidson, Michigan, competed in seven routines this season, as the tippy (top girl) in the pyramids and flyer in her stunt group. The addition of Asraf has been a game changer for the Cougars as she is a very talented flyer with excellent tumbling who is always willing to take on difficult stunts.
Kling, a freshman from Vicksburg, Michigan, competed in all nine routines this season, as a powerhouse tumbler and synchronized well with other tumblers on the mat. She had the added challenge of being transitioned out of the flyer role she filled in high school to a base on the team this season and did her job exceptionally well.
Ruger, a sophomore from Middleville, Michigan, competed in all nine routines this season. She is a part of every single stunt, basket, pyramid and flair that is thrown in the routine. Ruger came to the program with no cheer experience as she was a dancer and has truly excelled quickly.
Philson, in her fifth season as head coach, earned her second consecutive Coach of the Year award. Philson's team never took less than third place all season and raised the teams average score by over 10 points from last season while earning seven of the programs top 10 best scores.
