SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's tennis team closed out the regular season with an impressive 4-3 victory over Grace College, which was receiving votes in the national poll, on Friday at the Jones Tennis Complex.
The Cougars improve to 9-12 overall and finish 4-5 in Crossroads League play.
Grace claimed the doubles point with wins in all three matches to take the early advantage.
Spring Arbor responded with a strong effort in singles play, winning four of the six matches to secure the team victory.
Victoria Herrington led the way with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
Dayra Novella battled to a three-set victory at No. 3, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, while
Isabel Abraham added a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Andrea Vandermark clinched the match for the Cougars at No. 6 singles, earning a 7-5, 6-4 victory.
