GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 21 ranked Spring Arbor University women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 1-0 road victory over Aquinas College on Saturday.
Maddie Muilenburg provided the game's only goal in the 10th minute.
Claire VanZanten set up Muilenburg for the early strike, giving the Cougars a lead they would never relinquish.
Spring Arbor controlled the action throughout the match, owning a commanding 26-2 advantage in shots while also holding an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
Freshman goalkeeper
Kailey Walcott made her collegiate debut in net and stopped the only shot on goal she faced to earn a shutout in her first career start.
Spring Arbor (1-0) will return to the Cougar Soccer Complex for its home opener against Holy Cross College on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
