NORTHVILLE, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's cross country team opened the 2026 season at the Tommy Titan vs. W The Warrior Cross Country Classic, hosted by the University of Detroit Mercy, on Saturday.
 
Spring Arbor finished in third place behind only NCAA Division II Wayne State University and NCAA Division I Detroit Mercy.
 
Madyson Oudbier and Chloe Khon paced SAU in the 5k race. Oudbier crossed the finish line in 19:18 to earn 10th place in a field of more than 70 runners while Khon took 15th in 19:46.
 
The Cougars also displayed strong depth in their season debut, with just 1:24 separating SAU's first and seventh finishers. Spring Arbor's third through seventh runners were separated by only 27 seconds, with Lilah Kiley, Olivea Gessner, Alexis Brown, Shae Brodie and Abagayle Barkely all finishing between 20:15 and 20:42.
