GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Spring Arbor University women's cross country team turned in a third-place finish out of 10 teams at the 21st annual Knight Invite, hosted by Calvin University on Saturday.
The Cougars finished with 122 points and a combined team time of 1:59:49.
NCAA Division II No. 2 ranked Grand Valley State captured the team title with 15 points, while NCAA Division III No. 23 Calvin finished second with 56. Spring Arbor followed in third, finishing ahead of Indiana Tech, NAIA No. 22 Aquinas, Huntington, Kalamazoo, No. 5 Cornerstone, Goshen and Davenport.
Madyson Oudbier, last week's Crossroads League Runner of the Week, paced the Cougars for the second straight meet, posting a career-best time of 22:55 on the 6,000-meter course to finish 22nd overall. With the performance, she joined Spring Arbor's Under 23:00 6K Club.
Chloe Khon was next across the line for SAU, placing 33rd in 23:32.
Lilah Kiley finished 49th with a time of 24:21, while
Olivea Gessner followed closely behind in 53rd at 24:27.
Alexis Brown rounded out the Cougars' scoring five, crossing the line in 24:32 to place 55th.
Spring Arbor showed strong depth behind its scoring five as
Shae Brodie finished 57th in 24:39 and
Abagayle Barkley placed 61st with a time of 24:54. Just 33 seconds separated SAU's third through seventh finishers.
