Rough Start for Lady Cougars

The Spring Arbor University women's basketball team suffered a tough loss this past weekend away against Purdue-Calument. The Lady Cougars fell 72-44 in the non-conference match-up and are now 0-2 for the start of the season. The women's team hopes to improve on their record in the upcoming week with three matches on the schedule.

In the first half of play Spring Arbor was not able to stop the offensive attack of Purdue-Calument shooting 42% compared to the Cougar 22%. Entering into halftime 15-36, both teams struggled to get points on the board in a low scoring half.

Despite improving their attack, shooting 34% from the field and 80% from the line, the Cougars could not keep pace with Purdue-Calumet. The Peregrines claimed a 72-44 victory over Spring Arbor.

Freshmen Trisha Seilheimer and Alex Glenn paced the Cougars' offensively, each scoring seven points. Junior Kate Bement added to the attack netting six points. Both Seilheimer and Glenn led the team in rebounds as well with eight and seven rebounds respectively.

The Lady Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, November 10th at home against Concordia University at 7:00p.m. The Spring Arbor women's basketball team also travels to New York over the weekend playing both Houghton and Roberts Wesleyan.
