Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the
bug. The Lady Cougars just could not
manage to shoot the ball very well on the road at Marian College in
Indianapolis, IN. The Cougars lost the
game 65-47 by shooting 22.2% from the field on 10 of 45 shots.
The loss leveled Spring Arbor's record to 1-1 in the MCC and
5-5 overall. Marian's victory raised
their record to 1-1 in the MCC and 5-4 overall.
The Lady Cougars were led by Melissa Tejkl's 13 points, 9
rebounds, and 4 assists.
"I think we did a lot of good things offensively, we just
didn't get the ball into the hole," Head Coach Tara Kreklau said. "We got to the line 29 times in the first
half alone, but be missed the front end of a number of one and one's. Our free throw shooting wasn't what I would
have liked to see, but I was glad with the way we attacked the basket, we just
need to shoot the ball better."
In total, the Cougars were 26-45 free throws (57.8%) which
is down from their season average of 74% entering the game.
Megan Bement and Ashley Stelter added 6 points apiece for
Spring Arbor and Kelly Bruggeman chipped in with 5 points and 9 rebounds.
The Lady Cougars will be home this Saturday, Dec. 4 at 1:00
when they take on the University of Saint Francis.
