For the nine teams playing basketball in the Mid-Central College
Conference (MCC), winning is a challenge.
Seven of the nine received votes in the latest NAIA National ratings,
three are in the top 25 in the country.
That is making it very difficult for the Lady Cougars. They lost to the Grace College Lancers
Wednesday night 62-50. It was the third
in a row for the Cougars and sixth of the last seven. The loss dropped their record to 2-5 in the
MCC and 8-12 overall.
Melissa Tejkl, once again, led Spring Arbor's offense with
13 points. Alex Glenn turned in a strong
performance with 12 points and led the Cougars with 7 rebounds.
One big difference in this game was rebounding and second
chance points. Grace (12-7, 3-3) out-rebounded
Spring Arbor 43-24 of which 18 of the Lancer's rebounds was on the offense end
of the court.
The other difference for Spring Arbor was on the free throw
line. In the 20 games this year for the
Cougars, they have averaged 23 shots a game, making almost 17 the charity
stripe. At Grace they only got to the line 7 times and made 4.
The ladies will try to get back on track Saturday on the
road as they take on the Foresters from Huntington College. Game time in Huntington, IN will be 1:00.
