ROCHESTER, MI - It was a reversal of fortune for the Lady
Cougars on the road against Rochester College.
Spring Arbor fell to Rochester 45-29 in what would be the lowest scoring
game since the 2009-10 season when Indiana Wesleyan defeated Spring Arbor 70-25.
In the first game, Spring Arbor hit on 9 of 14 shots from
beyond the arc, but tonight, the Cougars put up 13 shots from long range but
couldn't hit any of them.
The bulk of Spring Arbor's deficit came in the first half of
action as Rochester built a 28-11 halftime lead. The lady Cougars were able to stay with Rochester
in scoring and actually won the second half 18-17 but it wasn't enough to cover
the difference from the first stanza.
Alex Glenn led the Cougars with nine points and four
rebounds. Jessica Garrison was held to
four points after a hot hand in the first game but managed seven rebounds to
lead SAU on the boards.
"I am proud of how we fought back from a dismal first half,"
said Coach Ryan Frost. "We need to find
a way to get out of the gate stronger."
Rochester College (1-0) was led by Sam Tomaschko who poured
in 20 points and ripped down 19 rebounds to lead all scorers.
Spring Arbor falls to 1-1, 0-0 and will take on Lourdes
College on the road in Sylvania, OH on Tuesday night at 7:00pm.
