SPRING ARBOR, MI - After a rugged start with the 16th ranked
Grace Lancers, the Lady Cougars found themselves down by the score of 18-2
after 10 minutes of play.
Playing a bit rusty after 17 days off over the Christmas
break, Spring Arbor regained their legs and started a 19-2 run of their own and
applied the pressure back on the Lancers and made a game of it. Spring Arbor went into the locker room at the
break down only one point 21-20.
Spring Arbor struggled getting the ball into the basket only
33.3% from the field including 3-18 (.167) from 3-point range.
The Cougars were led by Angela Russell's nine points. Russell scored two 3-pointers and made an old
fashioned three point play scoring a layup and getting the bonus after a foul.
Megan Bement added eight points and Ashley Stelter chipped
in with seven points and three assists.
"We obviously didn't start out very well, but we didn't give
up and actually made a game of it," Stated Head Coach, Ryan Frost. "We didn't have enough left to keep up with
them down the stretch. Grace is a good
ball team and we needed to play better to stay up with them."
Spring Arbor drops to 5-10 on the season and 1-3 in the MCC
while Grace goes to 11-5 and 3-1.
The Cougars will travel to Marion, IN to play Indiana
Wesleyan on Thursday night for a 7:00 game against the Wildcats.
